A Very Delicious Monster |
| by matt 2:36 pm Monday, 24 January 2005. |
I meant to post this last week, so while I’m a bit late to the party, I think Wired.com’s article “Monster Fueled By Caffeine” is still worth a read. It’s an extremely inspiring tale of how a tiny, unorthodox software company is managing, even in today’s climate of big business and big software, to do their own amazing thing and make some cash while they’re at it.
Admittedly, I also love this story because it combines several of my favourite things into one delicious package: hot software, coffee, and Macs. (Mac fans out there will also appreciate this entry in Delicious Monster’s blog, where company co-founder Wil Shipley bemoans the amount of fun that Delicious Monster design wunderkind Mike Matas (he’s only 18?!) is having at the Macworld Expo.)

Using Flash Resource Manager |
| by allen 9:45 am Tuesday, 18 January 2005. |
After moving over to Eclipse, we were looking for a good document browsing solution for AS and ColdFusion. If you haven’t seen it already, download and install Mike Chambers Doc browser. Fantastic tool!
Below is a nice video tutorial on how to install and configure the software. This may also be the best place to download it. It was very difficult to find the download link on Mike Chamber’s site.
Mike Chambers’ Flash Resource Manager is a terrific (and free) application that enables you to access Flash and other Macromedia documentation from one centralized location. In addition, the program is extensible, which means you can add Firefox-style plug-ins, themes, and additional help files downloaded in Macromedia LiveDocs format.

How do I use crossdomain.xml and System.security.loadPolicyFile |
| by allen 9:21 am . |
Tom Link’s blog is fast becoming one of my favorites…
I’ve used the crossdomain.xml file a bit here and there, but to be honest I haven’t really had a chance to bang on it yet. When configuring Flash with multiple application servers, many silent failures can occur. This can be very difficult to diagnose unless you have a good understanding of Flash’s server security model. Tom’s below blog goes into detail on the syntax and some hidden gotchas - caching…
